In 1928 Cesca was the first such tubular-steel frame, caned seat type of chair designed by Marcel Breuer. The name was as a tribute to Breuer’s adopted daughter Francesca. One of the original ones from that time is displayed in New York in the Museum of Art. It is considered as being among the “10 most important chairs of the 20th century”.
